COP / Climate conference

Since 2015, Fondation Hirondelle has attended COP (Conference of the Parties on climate change) conferences, demonstrating its sustained commitment to environmental issues. We focus on producing and broadcasting fact-based, independent information on climate negotiations and their impact. By sending specialist journalists to the event, we aim to ensure rigorous and accessible media coverage that allows people in our target countries to comprehend the complex issues at play during these summits. We also strive to give a voice to local people and the most vulnerable communities, which are often under-represented in global discussions about climate. Lastly, the presence of journalists from different media outlets producing shared coverage makes it possible to reinforce collaboration between media and foster co-productions.

Taking part in COP presents certain challenges, the most significant of which is navigating in an environment where the interests of major economic players can sometimes eclipse the needs of the most vulnerable communities. Despite this, we stand firm on our objective of forging a link between local realities and global decisions. We ensure that climate issues are addressed in an inclusive manner and that the perspectives of affected populations are heard.
