Director of Studio Hirondelle RDC (Democratic Republic of Congo), Doctor in Information and Communication Sciences, Pauline Bend has extensive experience in the African media world. She explains here what it means to launch new media in contexts that are sometimes hostile.
A specialist in media development and support, Pauline Bend began her career in Cameroonian diplomacy between 2005 and 2006 before joining the Panos Institute West Africa until 2015, where she was consecutively Regional Coordinator of the Programme “Pluralism and Media Development” and Director of Programmes. Today, Pauline Bend is the representative of Fondation Hirondelle in the DRC. She headed her team in Niger (Studio Kalangou) before taking over the management of Studio Hirondelle DRC in December 2018. Originally from Cameroon, Pauline Bend studied at the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, then at the University of Rennes 2 and Paris 8 in France where she obtained a PhD in Information and Communication Sciences.
