Philippe Amez Droz – Print Journalism

In 20 years, thousands of newspapers have disappeared around the world, swept away by the Internet revolution. What is the future of print journalism? What impact will this have on press pluralism? What models are to be found? Some answers with Philippe Amez-Droz from the Geneva institute Medi@lab.

A former journalist, Philippe Amez-Droz has been a lecturer and scientific collaborator at the University of Geneva since 2008 in Communication, Information and Media Sciences (Medi@LaB Institute). A press specialist, his thesis is entitled: “The transformation of the written press in the digital age – The consequences of the 2008-2009 crisis in advertising demand on the supply of information content in Switzerland and in some industrialised countries“.

Philippe Amez-Droz was also a lecturer at the University of Fribourg from 2016 to 2019 (Chair of Communication and Media Sciences). He teaches media economics and management, writing techniques for the written press, storytelling and public relations.

In his career, Philippe Amez-Droz has been a radio journalist (Canal 3) and a print journalist (Le Journal du Jura, Le Journal de Genève and La Suisse). He has also been a public relations consultant since 1990. In 2000, Philippe Amez-Droz founded Azconsulting, and has been working as an independent consultant in the fields of health, public affairs and the media.
