With the election of British lawyer Karim Khan on Friday 12 February,2021, the hotly contested seat of third prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) falls to a European. Khan succeeds the Gambian Fatou Bensouda, who will hand over her post in June, and to the Argentine Luis Moreno Ocampo, for a nine-year mandate.
