The COP22, the international conference on climate change, was held from the 7th to 18th November 2016 in Marrakech (Morocco). Fondation Hirondelle renewed the positive experience of COP21 in Paris by setting up a radio production studio at the heart of the event with civil society actors.
The COP22 was announced as « the COP of action » after the historic agreement reached in Paris in December 2015. Based on the positive experience carried out during COP21, Fondation Hirondelle chose to install a radio production studio in the Innovation space, at the heart of the event with civil society actors and companies.
The Fondation Hirondelle team has produced daily multimedia productions, reports, and interactive discussions to shed light on the impact of climate change in Africa. We also exposed the potential of the innovation developed by the actors involved in the fight against climate change through mitigation and adaptation strategies.
The production team was made up of five African journalists from media created or supported by Fondation Hirondelle (Radio Ndeke Luka, Studio Tamani, Kalangou Studio, Studio Hirondelle, Burkinabè Radio Television). This temporary newsroom was supervised by an editor-in-chief of Fondation Hirondelle and an assistant. The production was broadcast on FM and on the Web by the media and networks of 190 partner radio stations of Fondation Hirondelle in Mali, Niger, Guinea, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burkina Faso. It was also available on a website dedicated to the project and on social networks. In total, we had a potential audience of more than 20 million people in Africa.
